Igor Prieto Arranz es profesor titular del Departamento de Filología Española, Moderna y Clásica de la Universidad de las Islas Baleares, donde imparte asignaturas de historia y cultura británicas, lengua inglesa y teoría crítica tanto en grado como en postgrado. Posee un doctorado europeo en filología inglesa por la Universidad de Oviedo (2002). Ha investigado en los campos de adquisición de segundas lenguas, traducción y, muy especialmente, los estudios culturales, siendo su principal interés la expresión y representación de la identidad. En los dos últimos años ha iniciado una nueva línea de investigación, explorando los discursos identitarios en la ficción histórica.

Es autor de varios capítulos en volúmenes publicados por editoriales como Springer, John Benjamins o Multilingual Matters, y sus artículos han sido publicados en prestigiosas revistas internacionales como the Journal of Tourism and Cultural Change, the Journal of Popular Culture, Language, Culture and Curriculum o Bulletin of Spanish Studies.
Es el Investigador Principal del Grupo de Investigación en Estudios Culturales Británicos y Comparativos: Identidades y Representación (BRICCS) de la Universidad de las Islas Baleares, además de Presidente de SELICUP (Sociedad Española de Estudios Literarios de Cultura Popular) (www.selicup.org) y editor de su revista Oceánide (www.oceanide.es).
Después de varios años como Coordinador de Movilidad para Estudios Ingleses (2009-2012) y Subdirector de la Escuela de Doctorado de la Universidad de las Islas Baleares (EDUIB, 2015-2018), José Igor es Director de Promoción de la Internacionalización de la Universidad de las Islas Baleares desde el 1 de marzo de 2018.
